Once you have paid the $20 entrance fee you won't be bothered again by having to wait in the entrance station lines as our lodging is inside Yosemite Park. You are now free to roam this treasure of a National Park. Perfect for your Yosemite vacation!
Escape the hectic crowds found in Yosemite Valley and retreat to the peace and quiet of our homes in Foresta. There has been very little development here with only 30 private homes in the area. Due to the unique nature of Foresta, private inholdings inside Yosemite, very few more will be homes built.
At 4,200' in elevation and high on a ridge, these rental cabins offer relief from the hot summer temperatures found at other accommodations. Temperatures rarely go above the mid 80's while temps in the 100's are the norm for areas such as Oakhurst, Mariposa and El Portal. Gentle summer breezes blow across the ridges in Foresta every morning and night. A devastating wildfire swept through the area in 1990 hence the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The area has made a remarkable comeback with thousands of new 20 to 30ft. pine and oak trees blanketing the area.
Centrally located, on Hwy 120, it is an easy drive to many of the Yosemite's attractions. You can quickly drive to Glacier Point, Inspiration Point, Valley View, or down into Yosemite Valley to enjoy the vistas. A short drive from the vacation Cabins are the Tuolumne and Merced Groves of Giant Sequoia Big Trees. Some old 1900 barns and a small pioneer cemetery are located right down the street from the lodging or take a 5 minute drive for a dip in one of the relaxing swimming holes.
A 45 minute drive will put you in the alpine splendor of Tuolumne Meadows, which at 8,500 ft above sea level is the place to go when its hot. Here you can relax on the white sands of Tenaya Lake or take a horse ride while enjoying views of the high country.
The only other Yosemite Lodging operations inside Yosemite are those offered by DNC , Wawona and Yosemite West (YW). DNC is the concession operator for all of Yosemite and controls such lodging as the Ahwahnee, Curry Village, and the High Sierra Camps. There are private rental homes in Wawona but this area is a good hour drive from the valley in the summer traffic. Yosemite West is about 18 miles fromYosemite Valley and does offer a good alternative to the crowded valley.
Don’t waste your time with other vacation homes, bed and breakfasts, or motels who might say that they are INSIDE of the Yosemite National Park. Many claim to be close to the park and quote short driving times. You may spend up to an hour driving just to get to the park entrance gate if you stay at Mariposa or Oakhurst. The El Portal motels, Yosemite View Lodge and Cedar Lodge, are right on the parks border but they experience high summer temperatures of 100 degrees everyday

We had such a delightful time; the park is incredible (it was our first visit), but it was so nice to come home to a comfortable house at the end of the day, sit out on the back deck, look at a sky FULL of stars, and sip wine. "We too enjoyed our stay at your El Capitan Lodging at Yosemite. We particularly enjoyed the quite setting and lack of tourist activity there. We saw quite a bit of wildlife (deer, squirrels, coyotes, birds of all types, etc.). We also enjoyed our walks on the roads in the surrounding area. Our access to Yosemite was wonderful and the drive down to the valley was spectacular! It was indeed a place to come back to after a long day in the valley"
